I had the pleasure of photographing this young mans Mother and Father’s wedding several years back. It was nice to hear from them and schedule her Maternity session and Newborn session. After we were able to catch up and relive the wedding moments during the Maternity session I was super excited to meet the newest addition to the family. One week ago today this little young man joined us and began his journey throuh life. When they arrived in the studio this little fellow was already asleep and enjoying his warm blanket. I prepared the first set for him and waited to see if he was going to be out for the session or wake up and be bright eyed the whole time. As he hit the warm towels he never made a peep only shuffled a little before settleing in for a long nap.  This made for a really smooth session and I know the portraits will show the hard work was well worth it.

The best part of being a photographer is being a part of peoples lives for the long haul. I had the pleasure to photograph this little girls parents wedding at the contemporary arts center in Virginia Beach.  This is  a rare opportunity to photograph her since her family was stationed in Hawaii after the wedding. They came to Virginia Beach to visit family and friends so we took this time to schedule her session. It was great catching up with them and seeing the way their family has grown. This was a cold day in Virginia Beach, Virginia  as we made or way down to the beach for this familly portrait session. The wind and chill of the day was no match for this family and the sheer determination to get a great portrait for the wall. With the sun setting over the sand dunes we made our way up and down the beach having fun and joking about the chill in the air. We were able to capture several moments and create many images in a short amount of time so we wouldn’t be in the chill for long. Thank you to the Hines family for being such sports on a chilly day.

I love to take people on a journey with photography. As a new client Ashley was on faith that the vision I had for her first maternity session in the studio with A to Z Photography. She was very open to anything and welcomed the idea of making the show I knew she would love. After a few test shots we were ready to make the magic happen with the dress floating in the wind. I believe we were able to get everything and more to make this session one she will never forget.

In home portraits in Chesapeake Virginia. This is a portrait that I was requested to do as I entered the home. They had a portrait of Mitt Romney from a Parade Magazine and thought the style would fit their family and home. I studied the image and thought through the lighting issues as we shot the normal outdoor portraits before the afternoon light was gone. As we made our way back inside I started placing lights to make this image a reality. As a photographer I feel its good to be ready for almost anything and this was a case that put that to the test. There are several lights to fill the front and rear of the portrait to make sure they are well lit. This is a good example of why I love being a photographer and take the time to make sure I give my clients what they want. If you came to this session with only the gear to shoot outdoor portraits and thats it you would leave your clients without providing the image they truely want.
